What To Expect: Visual improvement after cataract surgery may take 1-7 days after the procedure, depending on the severity of the cataract.
Preprocedure: Eye drops will be given prior to surgery.
Special instructions will be given by Dr. Chen prior to surgery.
Postprocedure: Two types of eyedrops will be used in the post-op for 1-2 weeks.
No heavy lifting and bending for a week.
No water or dirt in the operated eye for at least a week.
Return to work can be as soon as one day after surgery depending on the type of work.
Lasik Surgery
Procedure Description: Correction of the power of the eyes
What To Expect: Fast visual recovery almost immediately in most of the patients. Painless and fast surgery. Dr. Chen uses the most accurate and safe laser available in the market.
Preprocedure: One eyedrop will be given 2 days prior to surgery. Valium will be given just prior to surgery.
Postprocedure: Three different eyedrops will be given. NO touching or rubbing the eyes. Shield should be worn at night time when sleeping. Avoid contact sport for at least 2 months. Surfing should be avoided for at least 2 months. Return to work can be as fast as one day after surgery depending on the type of work.
Pterygium Surgery
Procedure Description: Removal of a membrane from the eye
What To Expect: Painless surgery under local anesthesia. Dr. Chen uses a new technique with Tessil glue that increases the speed in recovery. Operated eye will be swollen and red for 1-2 weeks after surgery.
Preprocedure: No special preparation. If you are taking Coumadin, Aspirin or Plavix, those need to be stopped 1 week prior to surgery.
Postprocedure: Two different eyedrops will be given. No rubbing or touching the operated eye for at least a month. A shiel will be required to be worn at bedtime for a week. Vision should not be affected by the surgery. Return to work after 5-7 days.
Botox
Procedure Description: Botox light touch
What To Expect: Decrease in wrinkles in 1-2 days after the injection. A youthfull and relaxed look.
Preprocedure: Avoid aspirin, motrim and Ginko or any other blood thinner
Postprocedure: No rubbing the area for at least 24 hrs.
